List your top ten problems right now.
Slamming the door behind her, Anne goes straight for her bedroom and flops on the bed, groaning into the pillows. For a few blissful seconds, Anne feels the heavy, fuzzy lull of sleep blanket her mind, silencing thoughts of her harrying day. That is until she hears the soft click of her bathroom window opening. She sighs and then sits up, cradling her aching head in her hands.
“Fuyuko what do you want?”
“Sorry, but I came to check if you were okay.”
“But that new hero, she beat you-“
“Don’t say another word.”
“Okay. …But is this new hero…”
“What about her?”
“Is she going to be a problem?”
Anne snaps her head up from her hands to glare at her partner in crime.
“Problem? How so?”
“Well, she actually beat you. No one has ever done that before, not even Armstrong and-“
“Don’t worry about it, I’ve got other things to worry about-,” Anne smiles, a lovely idea blossoming in her mind, and grabs Fuyuko’s hands. She presses soothing circles with her thumb onto the back of Fuyuko’s hand, “Poor thing you’re truly worried aren’t you?”
“Well then, would you like a list of my problems and see how you can best help me eliminate them.”
Blushing a faint but delicious shade of pink, Fuyuko nods, albeit with a little more vigor.
“Make sure you remember this because I’m not saying it twice.”
“Right. Least important to most. Lack of sleep, HQ, Mrs. Sully across the street, Paragon, your handler, Prince Justice, Cadejo, Echo, Adisa, and that new hero.”
“Wait I thought you said-“
She digs her nails into Fuyuko’s palm, “I know what I said, but I will not overlook a new player on the field due to my pride. Listen well, Fuyuko. It’s our first priority to see if this new hero is against us or with us. Test her and if she proves… worthy, then make her an offer. ”
“She’s not a super, therefore, we will afford her that much. Understand.”
“Yes, Miss Anne. But-“
“What if she isn’t?”
Anne runs her eyes over Fuyuko, disapproval evident. She tightens her grip on her on hands and pulls her close so that they are face to face, “You know what to do. Don’t ask stupid questions,” Anne says, pushing Fuyuko roughly towards the door.
“Now don’t bother me, I need my rest.”
